Birmingham Airport Set for Record Easter Traffic
Birmingham Airport anticipates its busiest Easter holiday yet, with a substantial rise in passenger numbers compared to last year.
Birmingham Airport (BHX) is gearing up for an unprecedented busiest Easter holiday, expecting a 15% year-on-year increase in travelers, with more than 650,000 passengers anticipated throughout the holiday period.
Top travel destinations during this holiday include Dubai, Antalya, Alicante, and Palma de Mallorca for those seeking spring sunshine, while Amsterdam, Istanbul, and Paris dominate as favored choices for city breaks.
The airport is set to achieve its busiest year yet, bolstered by significant investments aimed at enhancing customer service amidst ongoing growth. In March, two advanced passenger screening lanes were introduced, allowing the screening of approximately 3,600 passengers per hour. Recently, plans were unveiled for a further £10 million investment into developing another baggage carousel and enlarging the immigration area, ensuring a smoother experience with potentially quicker processing times.
In anticipation of the Easter rush, Birmingham Airport has shared essential travel tips for a pleasant journey.
Al Titterington, Terminal Operations Director at Birmingham Airport stated:
*“We are preparing for our busiest Easter holiday getaway on record with many passengers jetting off to enjoy the spring holidays.” *“Since last Easter, we have invested in our security area to ensure ease and simplicity for our customers travelling through the airport. Our security hall opened in June last year, and it now includes additional screening machines to allow larger electronics and compliant liquids to remain in hand luggage.”
Top Tips for Easter Travelers:
- Creme eggs are a popular choice and can be carried in hand luggage, but avoid gift wrapping as security may need to unwrap items.
- Compliant liquids and electronics should remain in your hand luggage during security checks.
- Carry only liquids, pastes, and gels in containers up to 100ml in hand luggage.
- Please refer to your airline’s check-in times and ensure personal belongings are monitored at all times.
