Extension Granted for Kuwait Airport’s Baggage System Maintenance
The State Audit Bureau (SAB) has officially approved the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)’s request to prolong the contract for the maintenance of the baggage inspection system at Kuwait International Airport, which includes services in Weight Zones Two and Three, along with the Arrivals Hall.
As reported by Arab Times, the extension will last for six months from October 29, 2024, to April 28, 2025, for a total cost of KD 269,000. This extension was deemed necessary to maintain the operational integrity of crucial inspection systems, especially considering the rise in air traffic.
Sources have indicated that SAB approved the extension after a review process but emphasized the importance of expediting the new tender procedures for maintenance across all weight systems (Zones 1-4) to avoid further extensions in the future. Furthermore, the bureau highlighted the necessity of adhering to the established tender regulations during the submission and award process for the new contract.
It’s crucial for the concerned authorities to ensure consistent efficiency in the services provided at the airport while maintaining compliance with financial and administrative controls related to government contracts.
