SOWAKA Hotel in Kyoto has appointed Yuki Yamano as its new general manager, bringing extensive experience in luxury hospitality.
Renowned Kyoto luxury boutique hotel SOWAKA Hotel announced the appointment of its new General Manager Yuki Yamano on Tuesday, April 1.
With her extensive background in luxury hospitality and a deep-rooted passion for cultural heritage, Yamano brings a wealth of experience to the esteemed property.
In her new role, Yamano envisions SOWAKA as a sanctuary where personalized service and cultural experiences harmonize with the hotel’s authentic heritage architecture.
She stated: “My goal is to enhance SOWAKA’s unique charm, ensuring that every guest experiences the rich cultural tapestry of Kyoto while enjoying world-class hospitality.”
Under her leadership, plans include refining guest experiences and expanding wellness offerings such as Zen meditation and cultural activities reflecting Kyoto’s timeless beauty.
Additionally, Yamano is committed to preserving SOWAKA’s historic Taisho-era architecture, allowing visitors to appreciate Kyoto’s cultural legacy. “SOWAKA is more than a hotel: it is a living piece of history. Meet Yuki Yamano
Originally from Osaka, Yamano has had a career in numerous prestigious hotels. A graduate of Osaka University of Foreign Studies, she began her journey as a concierge at The Westin Osaka, subsequently gaining international expertise.
Her notable roles include leadership at Amanpuri in Phuket, 137 Pillars Hotels & Residences, Anantara Layan Resort, and Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto. With over two decades at ten properties, her appointment marks a promising new chapter for SOWAKA.
Balance between her career and personal life includes raising a young son and currently, she is learning the art of wearing a kimono, aiming to deepen her connection to Kyoto’s traditions.
With her expertise and commitment, she is set to lead SOWAKA into a new era of excellence, ensuring it remains a beloved destination for travelers seeking an authentic Kyoto experience.
