The unveiling of the La Dolce Vita Orient Express at the Roma Ostiense Station heralds a groundbreaking chapter in luxury travel within Italy. This train aims to redefine travel experiences, highlighting Italy’s artistic richness, stunning landscapes, and exquisite cuisine from renowned chef Heinz Beck, celebrated with Michelin stars.

The train’s inaugural trip, dubbed “Tastes of Tuscan Vineyards,” will transport passengers to the picturesque region of Montalcino on its maiden voyage scheduled for April 4, 2025.

La Dolce Vita Orient Express is a visionary project developed by Arsenale and Orient Express, with backing from Fondazione FS Italiane and FS Treni Turistici Italiani. It marks a significant revival of rail travel as the pinnacle of luxury, offering unforgettable journeys through Italy’s most iconic destinations.

The Routes

Comprising eight exclusive itineraries, the train will navigate through 14 regions of Italy, featuring highlights from the canals of Venice to the covens of Portofino, and from the medieval allure of Siena to Matera’s sun-drenched stones, celebrating Italy’s diverse cultural and natural heritage.

The Train

Designed with elegance, the train boasts 31 cabins, 18 suites, and several deluxe rooms, originating from carefully restored Italian Z1 model carriages. This initiative represents Italy’s first private luxury rail fleet, projected to grow to six boutique trains.

Milan’s Dimorestudio has crafted the train’s interiors, drawing inspiration from Italy’s mid-century design renaissance, blending elegance with a contemporary touch.

Onboard Experience

Starting their journey in the Orient Express Lounge, guests will indulge in culinary offerings from chef Heinz Beck, inspired by the regions visited. The service exemplifies sophistication, allowing for cultural and historical exploration at key destinations.

Paolo Barletta, CEO of Arsenale, emphasized the significance of this train in enhancing Italy’s tourism by evolving rail travel information. He stated, “With La Dolce Vita Orient Express, we are introducing a new model to the global tourism landscape,” fostering a more integrated hospitality system within the tourism sector.

Furthermore, Gilda Perez Alvarado, CEO of Orient Express, noted, “The launch marks a new chapter in Italian train journeys, inviting travelers to rediscover Italy’s marvels.

This luxurious train experience aims to captivate both local and international travelers, encouraging a deeper connection to Italy’s rich cultural traditions and picturesque landscapes.
