Air New Zealand announces that 2024 was another monumental year, hitting numerous milestones in anticipation of its 85th anniversary.
CEO Greg Foran expressed appreciation to all customers and acknowledged the hard work of his dedicated team.
Foran stated: “Our Air New Zealanders’ professionalism and grit kept the airline moving, even while navigating significant challenges such as ongoing engine availability issues.”
Despite these hurdles, the airline achieved major milestones, including the retrofitting of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in Singapore.
A Year of Significant Achievements
In 2024, the airline released its 23rd safety video “Every Point Counts,” featuring Kiwi basketball star Steven Adams, which became an instant success with 30.4 million views globally.
Airpoints membership soared by 414,000 new members, totaling 4.8 million. Nearly 300,000 items were sold on the Airpoints Store, with the Huski Beer Cooler being the top-selling product.
Popular travel trends included Auckland to Sydney as the leading short-haul route and Auckland to Singapore for long-haul travel. Bali remained a preferred vacation spot, leading to year-round service by Air New Zealand.
2024 also introduced Live Chat for customer interactions, achieving 265,936 engagements, alongside over 2,000 applications for the inaugural Mangōpare Air New Zealand Pilot Cadetship.
Another Milestone Year
As 2024 marks Air New Zealand’s 85th anniversary this April, Foran reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to connecting New Zealanders and the world.
He concluded: “Here’s to building on this legacy and reaching more milestones in the future.”
