
Vietjet Facilitates Relief Flights for Earthquake Rescue Teams to Myanmar
Vietjet operated two special flights to transport Vietnamese rescue teams to aid in Myanmar after a devastating earthquake.
Vietjet has successfully operated two special relief flights, VJ2875 and VJ2877, using an Airbus A330 and an A321 to deliver Vietnamese rescue teams to Myanmar after a devastating earthquake.
In an effort to support emergency response efforts, Vietjet expedited the deployment of relief personnel from the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of National Defense. The flights took off from Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport to Yangon on March 30.
Vietjet Relief Flight
Vietjet ensured rapid execution of these flights by fast-tracking flight permits and enhancing technical support. Experienced crew members were assigned to aid the relief mission, emphasizing the airline’s dedication to humanitarian assistance.
The flights carried 106 rescue and support personnel from the Vietnamese military, trained search-and-rescue dogs, and over 60 tons of essential aid supplies including medical equipment and food to support recovery efforts in Myanmar.

Dinh Viet Phuong, Vietjet’s CEO, stated: “Vietjet is always ready for special missions. We swiftly completed all necessary preparations and successfully operated two flights to transport emergency rescue teams from the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense to Myanmar, providing timely support for earthquake relief efforts.”
Upon landing at Yangon Airport, rescue personnel from the Vietnamese armed forces, along with Vietjet staff, began unloading and distributing essential supplies to designated relief areas. Police and military officers also participated in search-and-rescue operations and medical assistance following the earthquake’s aftermath.
Rescue Operations
A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on March 28, resulting in significant destruction. The disaster claimed over 1,600 lives, injured nearly 3,500 people, and left hundreds unaccounted for. The earthquake impacted infrastructure, damaging homes, bridges, and roads across the region, with tremors felt in Thailand and Vietnam as well.
