Easter Optimism: Aehcos Forecasts Higher Hotel Occupancy for 2025
The Costa del Sol Hotel Association expresses renewed optimism for Easter 2025, projecting occupancy rates surpassing those of the previous year.
The Costa del Sol Hotel Association (Aehcos) has highlighted a renewed optimism regarding hotel occupancy forecasts for Easter 2025, predicting rates that will exceed those from the previous year. For the first part of the holiday, from April 16 to 20, an occupancy of 83.14% is anticipated, contrasting with 74.58% recorded from March 27 to April 1, 2024. Furthermore, during the extended period from April 11 to 21, occupancy could reach 77.22%, compared to 75.98% last year.
José Luque, president of Aehcos, commented that “The forecasts for Easter are very positive, indicating figures higher than those obtained in 2024, which is a promising sign for the sector.”
However, the report emphasizes that hotel occupancy in March 2025 was at 72.91%, lower than ****75.10% during the same month in 2024. This decline is attributed to heavy rainfall impacting demand and the slow recovery of national tourism due to the socio-economic situation in the country. In March, the municipalities with the highest occupancy were Benalmádena, at 84.86%, and Frigiliana-Torrox at 77.68%. Ronda and Fuengirola also stood out with occupancies of 66% and 75.98%, respectively.
The Average Gross Impact per customer (IBCA) also saw a significant decrease, settling at €88.26 in March 2025, compared to €145.21 the previous year. Despite the decline in March occupancy, Aehcos remains hopeful regarding projections for the coming months, including 75.48% for April and 75.91% for May, suggesting that the sector may be on a path toward gradual recovery.
