Bangkok Stays Functional Post Earthquake

Bangkok is operational following emergency measures after a significant earthquake in Myanmar.

On March 28, 2025, an earthquake registering a magnitude of 8.2 struck central Myanmar near Mandalay, leading to tremors in northern and central Thailand, including Bangkok. The Prime Minister declared an emergency status for the city.

  • The BTS Skytrain and long-distance services resumed by the evening of March 28.
  • The MRT Blue and Purple Lines resumed the following morning.
  • All Bangkok airports are operational with normal public transport.
  • Road travel in Bangkok continues, except for some areas undergoing inspections.
  • Shopping malls, including major centers like Siam Paragon and ICONSIAM, are open as usual.
