Forget Amazon Prime – Ryanair has introduced its own membership program that provides “Prime” discounts, which include free reserved seats and travel insurance. The Irish ultra-low-cost carrier has announced Ryanair Prime, a package limited to the first 250,000 passengers who enroll on the airline’s website.
“Prime” Service Features Reserved Seats and Exclusive Deals
The membership costs approximately $102 (£79 GBP) per month, granting members benefits typically available as add-ons from the base fare. This service includes free reserved seats when booking a flight and complimentary travel insurance for the passenger.
Additionally, members will gain access to 12 annual member-exclusive seat sales that take place once a month. Ryanair claims that those who fly at least once per month could save over $500 each month with the “Prime” membership.
“Ryanair ‘Prime’ is a new subscriber discount scheme for frequent flyers who wish to travel often without overspending,” Dara Brady said. “Even ‘Prime’ members flying only three times a year will save £105, exceeding the £79 fee for membership.”
The announcement comes as Ryanair marks a significant achievement, having transported 200 million passengers in a single fiscal year, a new record for a European airline.
