The Viking Nerthus has officially launched, set to provide luxurious cruises along the Seine River, offering incredible experiences through France.

Viking River Cruises has welcomed the Viking Nerthus, the latest addition to its award-winning fleet. Officially launched at Meyer’s Neptun Werft shipyard in Germany, this innovative vessel is ready to sail the Seine River, promising unforgettable adventures through the heart of France. With a focus on elegance, sustainability, and state-of-the-art technology, the Viking Nerthus represents what cruising aficionados adore about the Viking brand.

A Stylish and Sustainable Design

The Viking Nerthus can accommodate 168 guests in 84 staterooms, showcasing Viking’s renowned Scandinavian design ethos, including clean lines and understated luxury. Features such as a square bow and Aquavit Terrace offer a blend of comfort and sophistication.

In line with sustainability goals, the ship employs a hybrid propulsion system, utilizes exhaust gas after-treatment technology, incorporates solar panels, and is equipped for shore power, significantly reducing its environmental impact without sacrificing performance.

Routes Through France’s Scenic Landscapes

The Viking Nerthus will operate two enchanting itineraries along the Seine River, both commencing and concluding in Paris:

  • Paris & the Heart of Normandy (8 days, Paris roundtrip): Marvel at iconic sights such as the Eiffel Tower and the historic Normandy beaches while exploring Rouen and Claude Monet’s gardens in Giverny.
  • Christmastime in Paris & Normandy (8 days, Paris roundtrip): Enjoy a festive voyage through Normandy’s winter landscapes and view Paris adorned with lights during the holiday season.

Expanding the Viking Fleet

The launch of the Viking Nerthus is a pivotal moment in Viking’s expansion, with plans for 25 new river ships by 2028 and nine ocean ships by 2030. As Torstein Hagen stated, “France continues to be a destination of great interest for our guests.” With this new ship, Viking aims to introduce more travelers to France’s rich history and culture.

Exclusive Docking Locations

A notable aspect of Viking’s Seine voyages is the exclusive docking spot at Port du Grenelle in Paris, conveniently located within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower, enhancing convenience for guests.

Conclusion

The debut of the Viking Nerthus highlights Viking’s dedication to providing exceptional travel experiences focused on sustainability and luxury. Guests can expect unforgettable journeys, whether exploring Normandy’s charm or enjoying Paris by night.
