Saudi Arabia's Aviation Authority Issues $1.01 Million in Fines for Q1 2025

Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has levied fines totaling SR3.8 million due to regulatory violations in the first quarter of 2025.

In the first quarter of 2025, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) imposed a total of SR3.8 million in fines for various violations.

The fines stemmed from 147 violations against airlines and individual travelers who did not comply with aviation regulations set forth by GACA, as indicated in a report from the authority’s violations committee.

Among the significant penalties:

  • Two airlines faced SR15,000 fines for failing to implement the Advance Passenger Information System and breaching competition guidelines.
  • 63 violations were related to airlines not properly verifying passengers’ travel documents, accruing fines exceeding SR1 million.
  • Violations related to passenger rights protection laws resulted in over SR2.7 million in fines.
  • Additionally, 21 individual travelers were fined SR12,400 for in-flight safety regulation violations and disruptive behavior.

GACA emphasized that these penalties highlight its commitment to transparency, regulatory oversight, and the enhancement of passenger experiences in Saudi Arabia.
