Changi Airport's 2024 Arrivals Surge to 67.7 Million

Singapore's Changi Airport experienced a remarkable increase in passenger arrivals in 2024, marking a significant recovery from the pandemic.

Overall Passenger Movement

Singapore Changi Airport saw a total of 67.7 million passenger movements in 2024, showcasing a remarkable increase of 14.8% compared to the previous year.

The results indicate a recovery that brought the traffic figures to nearly 99.1% of what was recorded before the pandemic in 2019.

Quarterly Performance

In the last quarter of 2024, Changi Airport processed 17.8 million passengers, up by 10.7% from Q4 2023. December emerged as the busiest month, with 6.4 million movements, the first month to surpass the 6 million mark since December 2019.

Source Markets

North Asia was the fastest-growing region, with arrivals up by 40% from the previous year. China led as the top source market, followed closely by Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, and Thailand. Notably, arrivals from Hong Kong and Japan rose significantly, boosting overall traffic.

Cargo Growth

The cargo segment also showed strong growth, particularly in flows between Singapore and markets like the US and China, fueled by increases in e-commerce shipments.

Future Outlook

Yam Kum Weng, CEO of Changi Airport Group, remarked on the performance, stating, “We witnessed a year of strong growth in passenger and cargo traffic… Changi added new city links and strengthened its network.”

He expressed optimism for continued growth in 2025 and emphasized the ongoing investment in airport infrastructure and processes to meet the rising travel demand.
