Increase in UK Passport Fees Announced

The UK government reveals upcoming changes to passport application fees, effective April 10.

Upcoming Increase in UK Passport Costs

The UK government has confirmed that as of April 10, the fees for passport applications will see a significant rise. The new fees will be as follows:

  • Adults: Online application will increase from £88.50 to £94.50. Postal applications will rise from £100 to £107.
  • Children: Online applications will increase from £57.50 to £61.50; postal applications will now cost £74 rather than £69.

Additional Costs

The cost for the Premium Service option for same-day applications will also increase:

  • Adults: from £207.50 to £222
  • Children: from £176.50 to £189

In recent years, the UK government has implemented a series of price hikes impacting travellers, including an increase in Air Passenger Duty (APD) tax and the introduction of a European tourist visa (ETA) in April 2025, necessitating a fee before entry for non-EU visitors.

Furthermore, passport fees have already risen by 9% in February 2023 and by an additional 7% in April 2024, marking a challenging time for consumers seeking to obtain or renew their travel documents.
