Cebu Pacific Partners with DMW to Establish OFW Processing Center at Mactan-Cebu Airport
Cebu Pacific has signed an agreement with the Department of Migrant Workers and Aboitiz InfraCapital for the construction of an OFW Processing Center at Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
Philippine low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific has officially entered into a partnership with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation (ACAC) to establish an OFW Processing Center at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) Terminal 2.
The newly proposed facility aims to simplify the processing of essential travel documents, particularly Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs), for departing and returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) at MCIA. Construction is set to commence this month, with operations expected to begin before the close of the second quarter of 2025.
Cebu is a key international hub that serves as a vital entry point for Filipinos seeking job opportunities overseas. The OFW Processing Center aligns with Cebu Pacific’s goal of supporting migrant workers by catering to their distinct requirements, beyond merely providing affordable airfares.
Supporting a Significant Sector
Candice Iyog, the airline’s Chief Marketing and Experience Officer, stated:
“We recognize the significant contributions of OFWs to our economy and the necessity for seamless access to pivotal services. This collaboration represents our unwavering commitment to enhancing air travel convenience and responsiveness to the needs of overseas Filipino workers.”
Likewise, the Department of Migrant Workers fully endorses this initiative, reaffirming its dedication to delivering more efficient services to OFWs.
Hans Cacdac, the Philippine Secretary for Migrant Workers, commented:
“This collaboration transcends the mere construction of a facility; it symbolizes our profound appreciation for the invaluable contributions of our OFWs. This center will serve as a one-stop service hub delivering essential services and will be a comforting haven for them and their families.”
Moving forward, Cebu Pacific is committed to collaborating closely with relevant governmental bodies and private sector partners to enhance services for OFWs, reinforcing its status as a trusted airline partner for the overseas Filipino community.
