
New Flights Launched Between Addis Ababa and Abu Dhabi
The national airlines of the United Arab Emirates and Ethiopia have established a groundbreaking joint venture, facilitating improved travel connectivity between Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
This new collaboration, which includes a codeshare arrangement, aims to enhance travel options for passengers using both networks. The airlines will initiate flights linking Abu Dhabi and Addis Ababa, with Ethiopian Airlines set to commence its services from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD) to Zayed International Airport (AUH) on July 15, followed by daily flights by Etihad starting on October 1.
Pending regulatory approval, this partnership allows for joint development of routes between the UAE and Ethiopia, enriching the connectivity between their respective networks.
Antonoaldo Neves, Etihad Airways’ CEO, stated: “This Joint Venture is beneficial for all customers, as it links our expanding networks, granting seamless access to numerous destinations via our hubs.” He added, “Abu Dhabi has a wealth of attractions to offer Ethiopian travelers, from cultural landmarks to vibrant landscapes.”
Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting its importance in strengthening ties between Ethiopia and the UAE while offering enhanced service and convenience for travelers.
Ethiopian Airlines will utilize modern aircraft, including the Boeing 777 and Airbus A350-1000, to ensure a comfortable travel experience. Addis Ababa, known for its rich culture and historical sites, is set to welcome increased tourism through this partnership.
