China Eastern Airlines has introduced direct flights connecting Shanghai and Abu Dhabi

These flights are scheduled to commence on April 28, 2025, marking a significant development as it is the first direct connection between the two cities offered by a Chinese airline.

Under a partnership agreement, China Eastern Airlines will collaborate with Etihad Airways, operating flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Departures will be from Shanghai Pudong International Airport, with return flights scheduled for the same day in local time.

The strategic significance of Abu Dhabi, along with its free trade agreements and robust presence in the energy sector, positions it as an ideal hub for Chinese businesses looking to expand internationally.

This new route aims to boost bilateral trade, investment, and cultural exchanges, enhancing connectivity between UAE and China, while also promoting tourism in both cities.
