Cambodian Envoys Commit to Promote Inbound Tourism

Cambodian ambassadors unite to enhance tourism in the country following a guidance meeting with the tourism minister.

Cambodian ambassadors commit to tourism

Ten Cambodian ambassadors have pledged to promote their homeland as an attractive destination to local populations within their jurisdictions.

The commitment follows a meeting with Huot Hak, the Cambodian tourism minister, who provided directives for attracting more tourists to Cambodia.

Included among the attendees were Chea Chanboribo, ambassador to Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, and Cyprus; Kimsour Sovannary, ambassador to Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, and Luxembourg, who is also Cambodia’s permanent representative to the EU; Chey Ratha, ambassador to Brunei; and Sin Saream, ambassador to the Philippines.

During the gathering, attendees were briefed on the government’s measures to enhance tourism, especially regarding the national e-Visa system.

This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Hun Manet’s recent directive for the tourism ministry to intensify efforts to promote global travel in light of a resurgence in international tourism post-pandemic.

The ambassadors were also encouraged to present the genuine situation of peace, security, and public order in Cambodia to respond to misleading narratives that could hamper inbound tourism. Minister Hak assured that his ministry would offer necessary promotional support, such as brochures and multimedia resources, to help ambassadors engage effectively with the tourism sector abroad.
