The experiential travel network, Virtuoso, presented a report on a record-breaking year during its annual Greater China/North and Southeast Asia Forum at the MGM Shanghai West Bund.
The event, held from March 11 to 12, gathered over 160 attendees, including agency owners and managers from across the region and preferred partners worldwide.
Attendees engaged in various insightful sessions led by Virtuoso executives, focusing on the evolving luxury travel landscape in Asia.
An Exceptional Year
Michael Londregan, Senior Vice President of Virtuoso, shared that 2024 surpassed 2019 sales figures by 239%, marking significant growth in the luxury travel sector.
He noted a strong interest in Japan, particularly Tokyo and Kyoto, but highlighted emerging destinations like Bhutan, which saw a nearly 200% increase in leisure hotel sales.
Emphasizing Human Connection
At the General Session, Matthew D. Upchurch emphasized the essence of human connection in travel, stating that travel advisors are not just sales facilitators but pivotal in enriching lives through meaningful interactions.
Cheryl Cheney Bunker, Vice President for Global Member Relations, discussed the network’s growth, affirming Virtuoso’s commitment to member success and collaboration.
As the network marks its 10th anniversary in Greater China, Irene Lee and Raymond Ang highlighted industry trends and effective marketing strategies aimed at luxury clients.
