Korean Air Unveils New Branding Following $1.3 Billion Acquisition of Asiana Airlines
Korean Air introduces revamped branding as it integrates with Asiana Airlines, marking a significant milestone in the aviation sector.
Korean Air has launched a new corporate livery and branding strategy as it prepares for the merger with Asiana Airlines to establish a significant footprint in Asia’s airline industry.
The South Korean airline completed its acquisition of Asiana for $1.3 billion in December, and the integration is set to materialize by January 1, 2027.
Under the new branding, the name ‘Korean’ will replace ‘Korean Air’ on aircraft in a prominent, simplified font. The upper fuselage will be light blue, featuring a fresh metallic finish.
Korean Air stated, “The updated logo aligns with modern and global minimalist branding trends while preserving the airline’s distinct identity.”
For more than 40 years, Korean Air has been recognized for its blue and white plane designs, adorned with a taeguk symbol, a representation of national unity.
Korean Air, a founding member of the SkyTeam alliance, faces the challenge of evolving while maintaining safety as its top priority. CEO Walter Cho expressed, “After the merger with Asiana, we’ll continue to grow in revenue and also in size. But my most important measurement of growth is service quality.”
