Air India Express has marked a significant milestone by welcoming its 100th aircraft, a Boeing 737-8 adorned with ‘Chittara’ tail art inspired by Karnataka’s traditional mural painting. This event took place at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport, the primary hub of the airline, which operates over 445 weekly flights.
Key Highlights:
- The airline is expected to manage over 500 daily flights this month across 54 destinations in India, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
- Aloke Singh, the Managing Director, stated that this acquisition signals a transformative phase in the airline’s evolution since its privatization. The integration and rapid scaling of Air India Express’ fleet have focused significantly on enhancing services to tier 2 and tier 3 cities in India.
The expansion journey includes routes added to the network such as Bangkok, Dibrugarh, and Dimapur. In addition to the growth in fleet size, the airline has upgraded its passenger experience with new offerings including ‘Gourmair’ hot meals and an enhanced loyalty program.
