Air Astana Joins IATA CO2 Connect Initiative to Enhance Sustainability
Kazakhstan's Air Astana becomes the first airline in Central Asia to join an initiative focusing on carbon emissions reduction.
Kazakhstan’s flag-carrier Air Astana recently became the first airline in Central Asia / CIS to join the International Air Transport Association (IATA) CO2 Connect initiative.
By joining, the airline has established a new standard for sustainability in the region.
Peter Foster, Air Astana’s Chief Executive, remarked:
“Aviation’s future relies on collective efforts to address climate challenges. As a member of IATA CO2 Connect, we are proud to collaborate with global airlines to drive meaningful change.”
What does this mean for the airline?
The IATA CO2 Connect project aims to evaluate emissions through precise, route-specific data based on operational information from airlines.
Currently, 50 additional airlines are also part of the IATA CO2 Connect initiative.
This program provides genuine operational data to improve the accuracy of CO2 emissions assessments, supporting the industry’s pledge to reach Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050.
Air Astana’s involvement in IATA CO2 Connect highlights the airline’s commitment to fostering environmental progress both regionally and globally. The airline is continuously adopting innovative practices, fostering transparency, and contributing to a sustainable future in the aviation sector.
