United Airlines Delivers Joy to Children with Heartwarming Holiday Flight

United Airlines organizes a magical Fantasy Flight experience bringing children in need to visit Santa at a festive North Pole setting.

The airline industry puts in a lot of effort during the holiday season to help spread joy, and United Airlines goes even further by hosting “Fantasy Flights.” These special flights bring children facing tough challenges, such as serious illnesses, to visit Santa at the North Pole.

This year’s event took place at Newark Liberty International Airport, where volunteers from United welcomed children from local pediatric hospitals, primarily dealing with serious ailments like cancer. The day began with festive check-in activities that set the tone for a magical experience.

After an exciting festive atmosphere, guests boarded a decorated 767, with the crew, all volunteers, turning the flight into a Christmas adventure. Captain John Weigand, who has 40 years of flying experience, played a crucial role in ensuring the event’s success.

“Our goal was to let these children enjoy a day filled with magic.” – Yolanda Hughes, UA purser

Children reveled in the experience, and upon ’landing’ at Santa’s workshop (another gate at Newark decorated for the occasion), they were received with an elaborately designed festive environment, complete with games, music, and even a visit with Santa.
