
The Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) reported on Thursday, March 6, that the country earned $1.1 billion in tourism revenues in January 2025.
This figure exceeds pre-pandemic earnings, particularly those from 2019.
As of February 28, 2025, the country’s earnings from various tourism-related activities have increased by 136.1% compared to January 2019.
Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco stated: “The recovery of Philippine tourism from the period of the pandemic in terms of revenues translates to thousands of jobs created for Filipinos, providing livelihood opportunities for many, especially in our rural and underserved areas.”
Key Findings:
- The tourism income grew by 71.4% compared to $652.3 million recorded in January last year.
- Revenue surged by 78.81% from PHP36.5 billion in January 2024.
- The sector reported all-time high tourism revenue of approximately PHP760 billion in 2024.
- In the first two months of 2025, there have already been 1,167,908 foreign visitors to the country.
- 25.31% of these visitors came from South Korea, the leading source market since 2023.
