Valpas Makes Strategic Move into Japan's Hotel Market

Valpas expands into the Japanese hospitality sector, partnering with Canon Marketing Japan Inc. to combat the rising bed bug issue.

Valpas, the innovative travel platform known for its commitment to providing safe and bed bug-free stays, has announced its strategic expansion into the Japanese hotel market. This move is supported by a partnership with Canon Marketing Japan Inc., which has made an investment in Valpas.

This collaboration will not only introduce Valpas’ unique certification technology to Japan but will also leverage Canon’s substantial B2B customer network to facilitate a successful market entry. The partnership will be officially showcased during the upcoming Hotel Restaurant Show 2025 (HCJ) in Tokyo.

Given the record levels of inbound tourism to Japan, the new entry is timely, considering the growing concern over bed bug infestations in hotels and rental properties.

Takuya Joshin, from Canon MJ, noted the appeal of investing in Valpas, emphasizing the growing demand for safety in travel due to rising traveler numbers.

Martim Gois, CEO of Valpas, expressed excitement over the partnership, highlighting how it aligns with both companies’ ethos of innovation and sustainability.

Valpas addresses a significant annual problem in the hospitality sector, valued at approximately €15 billion. Their platform offers hoteliers a way to ensure bed bug-safe accommodations through a distinctive digital certification process utilizing advanced smart technology.

In 2024, Valpas also shared ambitious plans to scale its reach significantly, aiming to enhance its services across prominent Japanese cities, including Tokyo and Kyoto.
