Philippine Tourism Bureau Urges Travelers to Engage Only with Authorized Providers
The Philippine Department of Tourism in Bicol recommends that travelers rely solely on accredited service providers during the upcoming travel season.
The Philippine Department of Tourism’s office in the Southern Luzon province of Bicol recommends that tourists engage only with accredited operators and service providers.
The advisory was released on Monday, February 3rd, ahead of the summer vacation and religious observances in April.
Director Herbie Aguas noted that safety and service quality are assured when travelers utilize certified tourism-related businesses.
Aguas stated:
“When you deal with DOT-accredited establishments and operators, you are safe. DOT-accredited companies treat guests, whether they are foreign or domestic, with utmost care and commitment to promoting the region. The safety of tourists is our top priority.”
Verify Documentation
The director emphasized that accredited establishments, travel agencies, and transportation operators possess necessary documentation which tourists should request to verify.
He added:
“When making inquiries, ask if they are DOT-accredited and request updated documents.”
Aguas assured the public that all accredited tourism staff participate in ongoing training to adapt to the changing needs of the tourism sector.
He noted:
“Tourists can be confident they are interacting with legitimate businesses that follow ethical practices and provide excellent service. Travel operators receive training to prioritize passenger safety.”
The Department of Tourism continues to assess accredited accommodations, restaurants, and tourism sites to ensure tourists experience a safe stay in Bicol.
Bicol is recognized for attractions such as whale shark encounters in Donsol, the beautiful beaches of Caramoan, surfing locations in Bagasbas, and its stunning Mayon Skyline.
