Marbella Showcases Luxury Tourism at ITB Berlin
Marbella makes a notable appearance at ITB Berlin, focusing on luxury tourism offerings and attracting new markets following a record influx of German visitors.
Marbella is participating in the ITB Berlin starting today, one of the most significant international tourism events, running until March 6. General Director of Tourism, Laura de Arce, emphasizes the opportunity to showcase the city’s offerings and attract new markets, particularly following a record year for German visitors.
De Arce mentions promising data for 2024, showing a 15% increase in spending from these travelers in the province.
The city is presenting under the banner of Turismo y Planificación Costa del Sol, featuring a stand at Turismo Andaluz, with a busy agenda focusing on cultural tourism, golf, conferences, and premium experiences. “Our strategy is to enhance sectors that generate a steady flow of travelers,” asserts De Arce, who also highlights Marbella’s attractions, including its exceptional climate, gastronomy, shopping, and exclusive accommodations.
Luxury tourism will be prominently featured at the fair, with meetings scheduled with travel agents to design personalized experiences. Additionally, Marbella aims to bolster its golf offerings, being a European reference with 14 courses that attract tourists looking to play during the colder months in their home countries. The activity calendar includes meetings with companies working with football teams from Germany and other European nations, aiming to maintain a consistent influx of teams visiting the city during winter, generating approximately 80,000 annual visits.
On today’s inaugural session, Marbella participated in a meeting organized by the WTCF (World Tourism Cities Federation), discussing topics like Silver Tourism, sustainability, and the use of advanced technology in creating personalized travel experiences. They also deliberated on travelers’ preferences for unique experiences and the impact of digital platforms on tourism marketing.
The Marbella delegation will attend a reception honoring the tourism sector organized by Diario Sur, as well as a networking event tomorrow at the French Cathedral, featuring the presentation of a new musical campaign by composer Hans Zimmer, along with a performance by artist ‘Tomatito’. Through these initiatives, Marbella seeks to solidify its positioning as a luxury destination on the Costa del Sol and continue attracting a growing number of international tourists.
