Agoda reports a considerable increase in hotel searches for Taiwan among Asian travelers this January.
On Thursday, February 27th, the online travel platform revealed that accommodation searches by Indian and Filipino tourists surged by 40% compared to the same month last year. This increase is likely attributed to the Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA)’s establishment of tourism service offices in both countries last year.
The report highlighted that Taiwan’s appeal continues to rise for travelers from the Philippines, Indonesia, and India.
Effective Campaigns
TTA’s marketing initiatives in crucial Asian markets and the formation of tourism offices in Manila, Jakarta, and Mumbai have significantly improved Taiwan’s visibility. Agoda’s researchers noted that Taiwan’s geographical advantages, visa-free access, and rich cultural ties make it a prime destination for Filipino travelers. Moreover, Indonesian visitors can also enjoy the country’s increasingly Muslim-friendly facilities, including halal-certified dining options.
Interest on the Rise
Interest in Taiwan among Indians remains high, particularly as the country is a filming location for numerous Bollywood productions. Additionally, Taiwan offers a variety of adventure tourism experiences and is accommodating to vegetarian diets.
Compared to the previous year, the leading five Asian markets showing interest in Taiwan in January were Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand.
