Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Sports Park officially opened its doors to the public with a major celebration on Saturday, March 1.

This new facility is aimed at enhancing the local sports sector and bolstering the city’s economy.

John Sharkey, chief executive of KTSP, remarked at the opening:

“Hong Kong is better positioned to actively attract large-scale international events, drawing more visitors and investments, injecting new vitality into the development of sports and performing arts culture industries. We will make full use of the park’s international standard advanced sports facilities to assist the Hong Kong Government in realizing the vision of an international sports platform, developing the sports industry’s home court economy, and welcoming entertainment events to shine on the international stage at Kai Tak.”

As the celebration gathered momentum, a multitude of local and Mainland celebrities from sports, arts, and culture graced the occasion, providing an unforgettable experience for attendees. The opening event featured vibrant performances, including lion dances and music presentations that celebrated Hong Kong’s growth as a global metropolis.

Throughout the coming months, the park is set to host various major sports and music events. The 15th National Games will take place at Kai Tak, marking a significant moment as competitions are held in Hong Kong for the first time. Moreover, events such as the National Disabled Persons’ Games and the Special Olympics are also scheduled.

John Sharkey further noted,

“We will spare no effort to ensure the successful staging of the event. We are committed to becoming a vibrant new landmark, offering exhilarating and unforgettable world-class sports, entertainment, and leisure experiences for visitors from Hong Kong, Asia, and around the globe.”

KTSP has secured partnerships with prominent local and international firms, including founding partner HSBC, to enhance the park’s operations and collaborations.
