In a significant move towards smart mobility and digital transformation, travelers at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai can now use an automated digital payment system for entry and exit at the Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP). This cashless payment initiative simplifies transactions, reducing wait times, and ensuring a hassle-free parking experience.
This advancement aligns with the Digital India initiative, allowing MLCP users to make payments through various digital methods, including mobile wallets, debit/credit cards, and UPI. Additionally, all lanes in the MLCP feature FASTag counters to expedite the process further, enabling FASTag users to enjoy an automatic parking experience without manual intervention.
As of now, 66% of CSMIA’s MLCP users prefer FASTag, while 10-15% choose UPI or credit/debit cards, and 5% pre-book parking slots. With an impressive 85% of transactions being cashless, CSMIA is committed to eradicating cash payments by working alongside stakeholders to promote digital options. However, cash payments are still available at designated stations for those who prefer them.
A spokesperson for CSMIA expressed, “Mumbai Airport continuously sets new benchmarks in smart airport solutions, enhancing efficiency, transparency, and sustainability through digital innovation. Our shift to a cashless system reflects our dedication to providing a modern and efficient parking experience.” The airport encourages all passengers to embrace these new payment options to improve their travel experience.
