GDETO Launches Campaign to Promote Hong Kong's Major Events via High-Speed Rail

A governmental initiative to highlight Hong Kong's cultural and tourism offerings to Mainland municipalities.

Starting from late February, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong (GDETO) has initiated the ‘Hong Kong Mega Events High-Speed Rail’ campaign. This promotional effort aims to introduce the major events of Hong Kong for 2025 and various tourism resources to the nine municipalities of the Greater Bay Area (GBA) on the Mainland.

The campaign, which will run until late April, promotes Hong Kong as A Premier Hub for Mega Events & Tourism. Information will be shared across five significant categories: culture and arts, sports, finance, innovation & technology, panda-themed events, and eco-tourism, aimed at passengers on three sets of high-speed rail services covering the GBA.

On February 28, a launch event for this campaign was held at the Guangzhoudong Railway Station. Director Linda So remarked that the Chief Executive’s 2024 Policy Address aims to foster an integrated development of culture, sports, and tourism while promoting economic diversification. Following this, the Government introduced the Development Blueprint for Hong Kong’s Tourism Industry 2.0, proposing a series of strategies and measures to enhance local and international tourism products.

“This campaign will be the first time GDETO promotes Hong Kong tourism across nine Mainland cities at once. We look forward to welcoming more visitors from the GBA to experience the unique charm of Hong Kong,” said Miss So.

The campaign is organized by GDETO with support from the Hong Kong Tourism Board and leverages the “Panda Friends & Family Hong Kong” IP, authorized by AllRightsReserved (ARR). Data indicates that over the campaign period, more than 300 trips will operate, estimating a total of 920,000 passenger trips.
