Kochi Ekimae Kanko has announced the launch of Japan’s first double-decker sleeper bus service starting March 4th, aiming to connect Tokyo with Kochi, located on the southern island of Shikoku.

As a novel accommodation solution, this service targets domestic travelers looking for affordable lodging alternatives amidst rising hotel costs due to increased foreign tourism.

Special Introduced Pricing

  • Cost: An introductory price of $47 for a one-way overnight journey.

Mobile Capsule Hotel Concept

The newly dubbed service, Sommeil Profond (French for ‘deep sleep’), offers a way for passengers to arrive well-rested, ready to attend their events, without the need for hotel reservations in either city. The entire trip is designed to last up to 13 hours.

Kochi Ekimae Kanko expects the highest demand to come from younger individuals traveling to short-term events like concerts and conferences.
