
Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) is enhancing its reputation for hosting premier sporting events by launching a cycling challenge on Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest peak, scheduled for April 12-13, 2025.
The Jais Ride will push cyclists to their limits as they navigate the renowned mountain route, frequently cited as one of the most picturesque cycling paths in the region. The race includes exhilarating competitions at designated segment points along the 25km course.
Constructed in 2017, this modern road is celebrated as one of the finest mountain routes globally, featuring smooth, winding climbs, multiple switchbacks, and striking elevation changes, making it popular among both professional cyclists and endurance athletes.
With this race, participants will have the chance to showcase their skills on a route that is both challenging and rewarding, with strategically placed checkpoints and sprint segments.
Raki Phillips, the Chief Executive Officer of RAKTDA, expressed enthusiasm about the race, stating, “We are excited to introduce this thrilling new cycling event on Jebel Jais, offering cyclists the unique opportunity to test their endurance on one of the world’s most breathtaking mountain roads.”
The competition format will award prizes in various categories, including:
- Sprint Segment (Green Jersey Award): A 500-metre sprint section, with the winner recognized as the fastest sprinter.
- King of the Mountain (KOM) Points: Top riders at specific points will earn KOM points, with the lead rider earning 20 points.
- Polka Dot Jersey Award: For the cyclist with the most total KOM points.
- Yellow Jersey Award: For the overall winners who reach the summit first.
With its challenging climb and stunning views, this race is set to attract elite and amateur cyclists from all across the UAE and beyond. Participants can register online for ease of entry, and complimentary refreshments will be provided throughout the event to keep cyclists energized and hydrated. An awards ceremony will follow the race to acknowledge the top finishers in each category.
