Silversea Cruise Lines has appointed Andreas Nuessel as its new Managing Director for the UK and EMEA regions. Following the retirement of incumbent Peter Shanks, who concluded a remarkable 45-year tenure in the travel industry, Nuessel steps into this pivotal role.

Nuessel will continue to report directly to Barbara Biffi, Silversea’s Senior Vice-President for Global Sales, while spearheading the company’s strategic initiatives across the UK, Ireland, the Middle East, and Africa.

In addition to his new responsibilities, he holds a significant role in Europe and plans to appoint a dedicated regional managing director to ensure these markets receive focused leadership and attention.

A seasoned veteran, Nuessel has over 25 years of experience in the cruise sector and has earned respect as an executive in the luxury segment. He originally joined Silversea in 2012 and returned in 2020 as Managing Director for Europe. Under his leadership, the company has successfully expanded its market share in the region.
