Delta Airlines Offers $30,000 to Passengers of Toronto Incident

Following a crash landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport, Delta Airlines has announced a $30,000 compensation offer for each passenger on board Flight 4819.

Delta Air Lines has announced that it will compensate each passenger on Delta Flight 4819 with a $30,000 payment as a gesture of goodwill while the investigation continues. The airline states this compensation will not affect the passengers’ rights in the future.

Bloomberg reports the offer is a “good-faith gesture” as the airline works with authorities to determine what went wrong.

New footage shared on social media captures the event as the Bombardier CRJ-900 attempted to land at Toronto Pearson International Airport but seemed to bounce off the runway before rolling over.

Following the incident, Delta has indicated that they are aiding affected passengers with accommodations, meals, transport, and other personal needs. Baggage retrieval could take up to weeks.

Deborah Flint, President and CEO of Toronto Pearson Airport, commended the crew for their handling of the situation, referring to it as a textbook response. The investigation is being led by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, with assistance from both the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board and Delta itself.
