Marbella Becomes the Global Capital of Health Tourism with the World Health Tourism Congress
Marbella is establishing itself as a key player in health tourism through the World Health Tourism Congress, bringing together over 250 sector agents.
Marbella transforms into the global capital of health tourism with the celebration of the 14th edition of the World Health Tourism Congress (WHTC). This significant event is being held at the Adolfo Suárez Fair and Congress Palace, bringing together over 250 agents from the sector, positioning the city as a reference in this field.
The inauguration of the congress was attended by Félix Romero, the first deputy mayor, and Laura de Arce, the general director of the branch. Over two days, the WHTC aims to connect healthcare companies from across Europe with major corporate healthcare buyers from the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
Romero highlighted that Marbella is “one of the leading destinations associated with this segment” and stressed that the city offers “the perfect mix of services and climate for medical stays or recovery.” The councilman also emphasized that this meeting, held for the first time in the locality, represents a unique opportunity to promote synergies and business opportunities.
Laura de Arce emphasized the importance of the scheduled networking activities, with an average of 27 meetings planned for each operator. “It is essential for Marbella to continue establishing itself in health tourism to attract individuals who require medical treatments at any time of the year,” she asserted.
The congress organizer, Ghassam Aridi, expressed gratitude for the support from the City Council and highlighted that Marbella is “a luxury destination and health tourism hotspot.” The event not only gathers key investors and high-level corporate buyers but also includes conferences on the latest trends and challenges in the industry, presented by internationally renowned professionals. Attendees include health ministries from Gulf countries and large corporations managing medical travel for their employees. With this initiative, Marbella firmly positions itself as a leader in health tourism, drawing global attention to its services and resources in this growing sector.
