Vueling Enhances Connectivity in Andalusia with New Routes for Summer 2025
Vueling Airlines is expanding its operations in Andalusia by adding new aircraft and routes, aiming for increased national and international connectivity.
Vueling has announced a significant expansion of its operations in Andalusia, adding two new aircraft to its fleet at the airports of Málaga and Sevilla. This step is part of a strategy to enhance regional national and international connectivity, with over 5 million seats scheduled for the summer season of 2025, representing a 12.4% increase compared to the previous year.
The airline will offer 38 routes connecting Andalusia with 16 destinations, including 10 domestic and 6 international routes. With this expansion, Vueling will become the only airline present in all six Andalusian airports: Sevilla, Málaga, Almería, Granada, Jerez, and Córdoba. The increase in seating capacity will strengthen connections between Andalusia and the Canary Islands, with a 37.9% increase, and with the Balearic Islands by 18%. Additionally, the airline will exceed one million seats on international routes from Andalusia, marking an 11.7% growth compared to 2024.
At Málaga Airport, Vueling will offer 15 connections, including additional frequencies to destinations like Amsterdam and London Gatwick, as well as an increase in routes to the Canary Islands and Palma de Mallorca. Meanwhile, Sevilla will see enhanced connectivity, particularly to the Canary Islands, with a total of 21 weekly frequencies to Palma de Mallorca. Furthermore, the airline will inaugurate a new route between Barcelona and Córdoba, set to begin operations on September 18, with two weekly frequencies, allowing travelers from Córdoba to access around 90 global destinations indirectly.
With more than 20 years of service in Andalusia, Vueling has transported over 65 million passengers since its inception. In 2023, the airline contributed 751 million euros to the region’s GDP, creating over 12,500 jobs in the tourism sector. Jordi Pla, Director of Network and Strategy at Vueling, emphasized that this initiative reaffirms the airline’s commitment to the region’s connectivity. Meanwhile, Counselor of Tourism and Andalusia Exterior, Arturo Bernal, highlighted the significance of these new routes in reconnecting the region with the world and enhancing its tourist appeal. With these measures, Vueling continues to solidify its role as a key player in Andalusia’s connectivity, benefitting both tourism and the local economy.
