Visit Kurdistan has signed a historic USD160 million agreement with Leitner to build a 10-kilometer cable car, enhancing the region’s tourism infrastructure and aiming to attract 20 million travelers by 2035.
Project Overview
The planned cable car will consist of seven stops and is expected to be one of the world’s longest installations. It is anticipated to create over 500 jobs and inject USD50 million into the local economy during its first year of operation.
“This commitment to developing world-class infrastructure demonstrates our dedication to economic diversification, and it is integral to our broader development strategy,” stated Dr. Sarbaz Othman, Advisor to the Prime Minister.
Economic Impact
This cable car project is expected to boost tourism revenue by 5% annually and will have the capacity to run year-round, ensuring consistent access to Kurdistan’s scenic landscapes.
