A recent YouGov survey uncovered that the most common demographic among first class passengers is Millennial married males who call the West Coast home.
Key Findings on First Class Travelers
YouGov utilized a profiling tool that collected data through rolling surveys, ensuring a representative sample of the online population.
- 67% of first class fliers are men.
- One-third of them are Millennials, and 38% have a child under 18.
Geographically, roughly one-third reside in the Western U.S., with 20% from California. The distribution includes 16% from the Midwest and 15% from the Northeast.
First class travelers tend not to focus solely on costs, making trip decisions more about destinations. 44% choose based on temperature, while 32% consider activities, and around 25% plan around nightlife.
The top destinations for these travelers are California, Florida, New York, Las Vegas, and Hawaii. For international flights, The Maldives is the leading choice.
Airline Preferences
When it comes to airlines, Delta Air Lines tops the list, with nearly 25% of first class flyers preferring the Atlanta-based airline. American Airlines closely follows with 23%, while United Airlines and JetBlue rank third and fourth, with Southwest at 6%.
