Blenheim Palace is setting a benchmark for sustainable tourism and conservation, becoming a destination of choice for the conscious traveller. Through its initiatives, Britain’s Greatest Palace is preserving its heritage while ensuring a sustainable future for the estate.
Initiatives Highlight
- Green Travel: Visitors are encouraged to arrive by train, bus, bicycle, or electric vehicle with incentives. Currently, 1 in 5 visitors use green transport.
- Carbon Neutrality: The palace aims for carbon neutrality by 2027, supported by a solar park avoiding 15,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions over 15 years.
- Biodiversity: Over 200 acres of natural habitats have been restored.
- Reusable Schemes: Phased out single-use cups, preventing over 100,000 cups from landfills annually.
- Community Involvement: Visitors can buy a tree to plant, with over 5,000 trees planted last year.
Next year marks the 75th anniversary of Blenheim Palace opening to the public, alongside its largest restoration project.
