United Airlines Sets Bold Timeline for Starlink Connectivity

United Airlines reveals an ambitious plan to introduce Starlink connectivity for enhanced in-flight experiences, including free access for MileagePlus customers.

United Airlines has just announced a new timeline for bringing Starlink—the world’s fastest and most reliable inflight connectivity—to its passengers worldwide. This pivotal declaration is a significant milestone for the airline, aiming to enhance the travel experience for all customers.

First Commercial Flight Expected by Spring

United Airlines plans to begin testing Starlink as early as next month, with the first commercial flight featuring this innovative service anticipated to launch this spring on a United Embraer E-175 aircraft. The airline aims to equip its entire two-cabin regional fleet with Starlink by the end of this year and expects its first mainline Starlink-enabled aircraft to be operational before year-end.

Free Access for MileagePlus Customers

All MileagePlus customers will have complimentary access to Starlink’s inflight entertainment, which includes streaming, shopping, gaming, and more. Travelers can sign up for the award-winning loyalty program at united.com/starlink to take advantage of these exceptional benefits.

Revolutionizing Inflight Experience

“We have a lot planned for our MileagePlus members this year and adding Starlink to as many planes as we can – as quickly as we can – is at the center of it all,” said Richard Nunn, CEO of United MileagePlus. “It’s going to revolutionize the experience of flying with United and unlock tons of new partnerships and benefits for our members that otherwise wouldn’t be possible.”

Largest Agreement with SpaceX

Last September, United Airlines signed the largest agreement in the industry with SpaceX to expand Starlink installation across its fleet. From this summer, passengers will enjoy the same high-speed internet service in the air that they have on the ground, with gate-to-gate connectivity.
